On August 12 2005,
Eleanor was in Tennessee on a business trip. She was on the phone with her
fiancée, Clint, as she was feeling the effects of what would eventually
lead to her death. She suffered an aneurysm in the part of her brain that
doctors couldn't operate.
Eleanor's employers
chartered a plane for some of her loved ones to be with her. Those who were left behind, began a devotional prayer
to be held every night. Asking God to extend her life.
On
Monday afternoon, she was scheduled for further testing when her heart
stopped beating. She was pronounced dead at 2:42 pm EST August 15. She is
survived by her parents Robert and Eleanor Sr, and her sisters,
Emylene and Elisa. Along with her immediate family, she is survived by the rest of the Fermin and Dela
Merced clan.
Eleanor Fermin II was an
active member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo for twenty-eight years up until her last breath. With her
she carries her many responsibilities in the church. Most of all, she remained a
choir member.
But for now... she
sleeps.
We all believe that
God knows what's best. She's in a good place. In her life, she walked the path God
meant for her to tread. Praise God for bringing an admirable and beautiful light like
Eleanor into our lives. Even for just a short time.
Let us think of the
Eleanor who lived a happy life, who carried her duty to the best of her
abilities. Let us not dwell upon what could have been. May God bless us
always until the end and give us hope to continue on.
Meanwhile Eleanor, the loving and
caring daughter, granddaughter, sister, cousin, niece, auntie and friend,
will be sorely missed.
Eleanor was laid to rest at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA on
Tuesday August 23, 2005.
"Sleep tight Eleanor... We'll
see you soon."
